He was a major contributor to the field of AChE chemistry and the development of countermeasures against chemical warfare toxins. In particular he was the first to demonstrate that mutation of histidine could transform butyrylcholinesterase in a organophosphate hydrolase. He was an important mentor, a close collaborator, and a very good friend to many of the colleagues in the field
