Commentantipsychotic agent which is no longer in common use. Fluphenazine can cause mild and transient serum enzyme elevations and has been linked to rare instances of clinically apparent cholestatic liver injury. blocking postsynaptic dopamine D2 receptors in the limbic, cortical system and basal ganglia. This prevents the actions of dopamine, thereby reducing the hallucinations and delusions that are associated with schizophrenia
