CommentS28 peptidases in MEROPS database. These serine proteases include several eukaryotic enzymes such as lysosomal Pro-X carboxypeptidase, dipeptidyl-peptidase II, and thymus-specific serine peptidase. In human the S28 family of peptidases consists of three enzymes, PRCP, TSSP and DPP7. DPP7 is also called dipeptidyl peptidase 2 and quiescent cell proline dipeptidase. TSSP is thymus-specific serine protease. PRCP is a lysosomal, serine carboxypeptidase that cleaves hydrophobic C-terminal amino acids adjacent to proline. In contrast, DPP7 is a serine dipeptidyl aminopeptidase that cleaves N-terminal amino acids adjacent to proline and is localized to intracellular vesicles
