Type_substrate Report for: Carbohydrate

Biomolecule consisting of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms, usually with a hydrogen/oxygen atom ratio of 2:1 (as in water) and thus with the empirical formula Cm(H2O)n. Many synonyms, like sugar (in the broad sense), saccharide, saccharose, glucide. This group includes sugars, starch, and cellulose. Most enzymes acting on carbohydrates are not alpha/beta hydrolases and are included in the CAZy database, and classified in differnt families of CAZymes
