Type_substrate Report for: Terephthalate

polyethylene terephthalate (PET): thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family used in fibers for clothing, containers for liquids and foods. Substrates of enzyme of the following families of enzymes: Tannase; Carbon-carbon_bond_hydrolase; Polyesterase-lipase-cutinase used in plastic degradation. Degradation of PET using hydrolytic enzymes leads to the release of hydrolysis products such as BHET (bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate), MHET (mono-(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalic acid), TPA (terephthalic acid) and EG (ethylene glycol). Phthalate esters are endocrine disruptors.
