Abstract : Chemical investigation of the methanol extract of the leaves of Caledonian Guioa crenulata led to the isolation and characterisation of four farnesyl diglycosides, crenulatosides A, B, C and D, along with three known flavonol glycosides and one known trimeric proanthocyanidin possessing a doubly linked structure. The structures of these compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic studies and chemical evidence. The ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts of the leaves exhibited no cytotoxic activity and no inhibition of acetylcholinesterase. |
