OBJECTIVES: Oxidative stress and paraoxonase activity play a significant role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The Prospective Cardiovascular Munster (PROCAM) study evaluated the prevalence of CVD risk factors and postulated the prediction of future CVD events.
