Abstract :
Thirty-seven novel 3H-indolyl and indolinyl carbamates were synthesised as potential insecticides. They were generally found to be good inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase in vitro, but although several compounds were highly insecticidal no correlation was found between their in vitro activity and their in vivo performance. Experimental evidence suggested that the insecticidal activity of the compounds was governed by a combination of their relative rates of penetration into insects and subsequent metabolic breakdown. |
