Polyvinyl-chloride

Polyvinyl chloride, alternatively poly(vinyl chloride), colloquially vinyl[8] or polyvinyl, abbreviated PVC, is the world's third-most widely produced synthetic polymer of plastic (after polyethylene and polypropylene). About 40 million tons of PVC are produced each year. Catalase-peroxidase (CAT) and laccases are key enzymes ( not alpha/beta hydrolases) involved in PVC degradation. However engineered dehalogenases might be developed to degrade PVC
