Norcocaine

Cocaine is catalyzed primarily by BChE to yield ecgonine methyl ester (EME); hydrolysis catalyzed by hepatic carboxylesterase 1 (CES1) to form benzoylecgonine (BZE); oxidation via liver cytochrome P450 3A4 to produce norcocaine (NC). Among these, benzoylecgonine is the primary metabolite, accounting for ~45% of cocaine breakdown and exhibiting a significantly prolonged half-life relative to cocaine.
