Eugenio Vilanova-Gisbert (Villena, 4 february 1948 - Alicante, 2 december 2024). Trained at the Salesians of Villena, he received a doctorate at the University of Alicante. He worked at the University of Alicante between 1973 and 1997. Professor of Toxicology in the Department of Applied Biology and the Institute of Bioengineering at the Miguel Hernandez University. Eugenio Vilanovas research in Toxicology included the molecular mechanisms of neurotoxicity and embryo toxicity of various pesticides, the monitoring of exposure to volatile organic solvents and heavy metals, and the assessment of the risks of exposure to phytosanitary products. He hosted in 2015 the 12th meeting on cholinesterases in Elche and belonged to the organizing committees of the following meetings since then.
