Lindane; Hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) is an organochlorine , a persistent, highly toxic, and bioaccumulative organochlorine insecticide and a pharmaceutical treatment for lice and scabies. In 2009, the production and agricultural use of lindane was banned under the Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants. Theoretically, HCH has eight possible stereoisomers, of which four (alpha, beta, gamma and delta-HCH) predominate in the commercial products .
