NLRP3 inflammasome activation

General

NLRP3 inflammasome activation is a critical innate immune response where the NLRP3 protein senses various cellular stresses (like microbial infections, particulate matter, or damaged cell signals) to form a multiprotein complex that activates caspase-1, leading to the maturation and release of potent pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1 and IL-18, and triggering pyroptosis (inflammatory cell death) via Gasdermin D.
