Drosophila melanogaster (Fruit fly) Pummelig (Puml) phospholipase
Renamed Pummelig (Puml),colloquial German for chubby) pummelig deletion mutants (puml1) Hehlert et al.<\/A>.Pummelig release fatty acids from phosphatidic acid (PA), N-acylphosphatidylethanolamine (NAPE) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) but does not hydrolyse TG, diolen or monoolein. Pummelig localizes to lipid droplets, mitochondria, and peroxisomes. Puml does not stimulate TG lipase activity of Bmm (Brummer DmATGL) in vitro. Alternative splicing: ABHD4-1 localizes to lipid droplets, whereas ABHD4-2 selectively targets mitochondria and is enriched in oxidative tissues. Pummelig-2 localize to the cytosolic face of the OMM (outer mitochondrial membrane). Pummelig-2 selectively hydrolyzes Cardiolipin (CL) in vitro, producing monolysocardiolipin (MLCL) and dilysocardiolipin (DLCL)
